Thank you for supporting Djirra, your donation will make a real difference to the lives of Aboriginal women and their children in Victoria.

Djirra provides culturally safe and holistic support and specialist family violence legal assistance and representation.
Djirra also designs and delivers early intervention and prevention programs, and undertakes policy and advocacy work to identify systemic issues for law reform.

Our culturally safe and wrap-around services include:

  • Frontline legal and non-legal assistance – focusing predominantly on family violence, child protection, family law and victims of crime assistance;
  • Outreach to women in prison;
  • Family violence early intervention and prevention programs;
  • Community education and cultural awareness training; and
  • Policy, advocacy and law reform.

About Djirra:

Established in 2002, Djirra is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation with state-wide reach dedicated to providing culturally safe and holistic support, and specialist family violence legal assistance and representation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are experiencing, or have in the past, family violence and sexual assault – predominantly women and children.

As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, Djirra is directed by an Aboriginal Board and has a range of systems and policies in place to ensure we provide culturally safe services in direct response to community need.

Djirra’s services are located in Melbourne, Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Bendigo, Echuca, Mildura, Morwell and Warrnambool.
